Thus, she became a central figure in what was considered the trial of the century though she had no part in the crime.

She was forced to make her rape public to help exonerate her husband’s actions. Her beauty and ruin was cited as the cause of the murder by the media of the time. Even today, you will see articles describing her as a deadly beauty who inspired a murder.
